Creativity has been a huge part of my life, I've been making shit since forever… But somewhere along the way I picked up these words and they stuck.
Whenever I'm lost in the sauce of the 'business' side of creativity, this brings me back to centre. The energy of making something you're actually excited about can't be faked. It's how Marine Parade started. I fell in love with making beaded jewellery, then realised I couldn't find anything I liked, or that even fit me. So I figured why the hell not make it myself.
The other piece: when you're making something you wish existed, you're not doing it because you were told to. You want the thing, so the outcome almost doesn't matter. The drive comes from inside you, not outside.
Making the shit you wish existed is creative freedom, creative independence, and the deepest creative fulfillment I know. I hope you adopt a bit of it too, and see where it takes you.
